A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Tuesday said that different sides have expressed appreciation of China for its efforts in promoting peace talks over the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
Wang Wenbin made the comments in response to the second round of shuttle diplomacy by Li Hui, the special representative of the Chinese government on Eurasian affairs.
Over the past two years since the start of the conflict, China has always adhered to an objective and impartial stance to build consensus and pave the way for peace talks, said Wang.
The pressing priority is to restore peace since the conflict is still going on and at risk of escalation and spillover, he said.
China sincerely hopes that all parties concerned will show political will and deescalate the situation, said Wang.
He added that China will continue to play a constructive role in promoting a political solution to the Ukraine crisis.
