Buddhism is one of the oldest religions in the world, with a history of about 2,000 years in China. Tibetan Buddhism is an important part of Chinese Buddhism. 

Do you know about Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo and Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty (618-907)? 

Songtsen Gampo was the founder of the Tibetan Tubo Kingdom (about 618-842). He married Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty in the 7th century. The Jokhang Temple on Barkhor Street houses a life-size statue of a 12-year-old Sakyamuni Buddha brought by Princess Wencheng on her momentous journey to Xizang.
