Located in Huangshan City, east China's Anhui Province, Xixinan Village is an ancient settlement with a history of 1,200 years. Nestled along the banks of the Fengle River, this picturesque village was shaped by water.
Renowned for its naturally formed "Chinese wingnut forest" wetland, Xixinan Village boasts a unique ecosystem. The Chinese wingnut trees, with their distinctive main roots, developed lateral roots, and intricate fibrous roots, play a vital role in soil stabilization and water conservation.
Abundant water sources have long ensured the fertility of the land. Ingenious villagers harnessed the water level difference by constructing low dams upstream, diverting water into the village for essential needs such as drinking, firefighting, and irrigation. This water management system not only supports the village's livelihood but also helps regulate the local temperature, creating a pleasant living environment.
