The Mongolian scotch pine's crucial role in combating desertification

02:45

Mongolian scotch pine is known for its strong root system and excellent freezing tolerance. Since its successful introduction to Zhangwu in Liaoning Province in the 1950s, it has played a vital role in controlling desertification. Widely adopted across the semi-arid areas of the country's northern regions, it has emerged as the flagship species of the Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Project, also known as China's Great Green Wall.
