A man attempted to self-immolate near the White House on Friday as thousands marched across U.S. cities, demanding an immediate ceasefire as the Gaza conflict approaches its one-year anniversary.

"I'm a journalist, and we neglect it, we spread the misinformation," he shouted between screams of pain, as bystanders extinguished the flames on his arm and police rushed to his aid.

Police reported that the man was being treated for "non-life-threatening injuries."

The incident came months after Aaron Bushnell, a 25-year-old U.S. Air Force member, died of injuries after setting himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C. in protest against the Israeli raids on Gaza in February.
