South Korea's acting defense minister, Kim Seon-ho, apologized on Friday for the concerns caused by President Yoon Suk Yeol's martial law declaration earlier this week and said that earlier reports of another martial law declaration were not true.
He also said in a media briefing he would not obey any order to implement another declaration of martial law.
South Korean prosecutors have decided to conduct a joint investigation with military prosecutors into the emergency martial law declared by Yoon earlier this week, according to a report by broadcaster YTN on Friday.
Yoon and Han Dong-hoon, head of the ruling party, will meet on Friday afternoon upon Yoon's request, local media reports said.
Han said earlier that Yoon must be suspended as soon as possible.
Yoon's office said they cannot confirm the meeting.
