A spokesperson for China's National People's Congress (NPC), the national legislature, on Tuesday said the country's system of people's congresses has provided an important institutional guarantee for long-term social stability.

Lou Qinjian, spokesperson for the third session of the 14th NPC, made the remarks when briefing the press on the NPC session scheduled to run from March 5 to 11.
