President Xi's special envoy attends opening ceremony of Grand Egyptian Museum

At the invitation of the government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy and Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli attended the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Egypt on Saturday.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi met with Sun prior to the ceremony. Sun conveyed Xi's cordial greetings and presented al-Sisi with Xi's congratulatory letter.

China attaches great importance to the development of China-Egypt relations and stands ready to work with Egypt to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, advance practical cooperation, expand cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and constantly enrich the connotation of the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership, Sun said.

For his part, al-Sisi asked Sun to convey his sincere greetings to Xi, expressing gratitude to Xi for sending a congratulatory letter on the opening of the museum.

He said Egypt is ready to work with China to deepen cooperation in various areas, and push for greater development of bilateral relations.
