China completed the installation of the inner dome for Unit 3 at the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant on Wednesday in east China's Fujian Province.
The unit uses China-developed third-generation Hualong One nuclear power technology, and the milestone marks the transition from civil construction to equipment installation.
Weighing more than 370 tonnes, the dome was hoisted by a crane and positioned inside the reactor building through precision maneuvers to reach its designated location.
The inner dome is a key construction milestone for Hualong One projects and serves as a critical safety barrier for the reactor building, ensuring structural integrity and airtightness.
According to China Media Group, China's Hualong One program has entered a new stage of accelerated, batch-scale deployment nationwide.
The Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant is designed to host six Hualong One units. Two units have entered commercial operation, while the remaining two are undergoing civil construction and equipment installation. Once fully completed, the plant is expected to supply about 60 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity each year.
