China's Ministry of Commerce on July 28 released a document titled "China's Position on the So-called Excess Capacity Issue," laying out the facts and clarifying the country's stance on the matter.

The document outlines how China actively promotes the balanced development of imports and exports.

As the primary destination for goods from nearly 80 countries and regions, China has ranked as the world's second-largest import market for 17 years in a row.

China has extended zero-tariff treatment to 63 countries, becoming the first major economy to scrap tariffs on 100 percent of tariff lines for all Least Developed Countries (LDCs) countries and African nations with diplomatic ties to Beijing.

China is also the only country hosting an international import expo, reaching intended deals worth over $580 billion across eight editions.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), China's total imports exceeded 90 trillion yuan ($12.86 trillion), ample proof that China is not only "the world's workshop," but also "the world's market."
