High-speed trains to connect Beijing and Xiongan New Area
[]
From July 6, bullet trains will enter passenger service between Beijing and Xiongan New Area, a recently-established zone in north China's Hebei Province.
The new area, located about 100 km southwest of Beijing in Hebei's Baoding city, was announced in April this year as an economic hub supporting the development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei megalopolis.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the China Railway Corporation has confirmed that two high-speed trains will travel 80 minutes from Beijing South Station to Baoding Station, making different stops along the way.
The company said on China's Twitter-like Weibo that the move aims to benefit passengers in the Chinese capital, Hebei Province and Xiongan New Area and to support the development in the new area.
Tickets will be available for purchase starting Sunday at 8:00 a.m local time.
