China began testing its new high-speed bullet train, Fuxing, on Thursday which is set to run between Beijing and Shanghai at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour.
Connecting the Chinese capital with its major financial and trade hub, the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway is one of the busiest lines in the country, carrying over 100 million passengers a year.
Construction started on the railway in January 2008.

The speed will cut the trip from Beijing to Shanghai to around 4.5 hours, when "Fuxing" goes into service in September.
If successful, the current tests will pave way for a new schedule on the Beijing-Shanghai railway starting in mid-September.
