Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday met with a group of central government officials based in Hong Kong and senior executives of Hong Kong branches of mainland enterprises and institutions.
Xi said that the practice of the "One Country, Two Systems" principle has been successful in the Special Administrative Region over the past 20 years.
The Chinese president also noted that central government offices based in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong branches of mainland enterprises and institutions have made significant contributions to the city's prosperity and stability.
Xi arrived in Hong Kong on Thursday for a three-day trip to attend celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China and the inauguration of Hong Kong's new government.
