One company in Guangdong Province has already gotten its foot in the door as China deepens its cooperation with BRICS countries, in supplying high-end equipment to factories in Brazil and India.
Zhang Chenxing is the CEO of CYG Intelligent Automation in Zhuhai, which specializes in intelligent equipment manufacturing. Zhang joined the company in 2011 and the 34-year-old said he started thinking about the concept of the Fourth Industrial Revolution a few years ago.
“I had this business trip to Korea and America in 2014, which made me realize there was a huge gap in terms of manufacturing level between China and these developed countries. At that time I thought automation would be the area of competition in the future,” Zhang told CGTN.
It was at that time the company started investing heavily in scientific research on intelligent manufacturing, putting in hundreds of millions of yuan a year. After years of effort, the investment seems to have paid off. Now the company produces some of the most advanced intelligent equipment, selling them to clients in Europe and America.

Meanwhile, Zhang has turned his eyes to the markets in the BRICS countries, including Brazil and India. And his company’s projects in the BRICS countries are worth millions of yuan.
“Around two years ago, large scale corporations like Foxconn and Pegatronics started shifting their production to emerging markets like Brazil. And I saw an opportunity in that. Now we have some projects there, mainly supplying our automation equipment to those factories,” Zhang noted.
Zhang also said that demographic dividends in those countries will eventually disappear, as people there aspire for higher-skilled jobs. That means smart technology and fully-automated production will take the lead in the coming decades. Zhang is now seeking more partners in the BRICS countries, hoping to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
