Chinese President Xi Jinping said China will invest 30 billion RMB (4.68 billion US dollars) to build a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) community with a shared future with a view toward an inclusive world that enjoys lasting peace, shared security and common prosperity.
Xi made the statement at the 18th SCO Summit in Qingdao in China's eastern Shandong Province on Sunday.
He said the world faces challenges such as hegemony and power politics, traditional and non-traditional security threats, unilateralism, trade protectionism as well as clashes of civilizations.
To address the challenges, Xi said unity and mutual trust among SCO members are fundamental.
China will set up a 30 billion RMB (4.68 billion US dollars) special lending facility within the framework of the SCO Inter-bank Consortium, he pledged.

Xi said China will continue to promote the Belt and Road Initiative to deliver common wealth and prosperity to SCO member states, and welcome all parties to join the first China International Import Expo to be held in Shanghai in November.
To address security concerns, Xi said SCO members will implement the 2019-2021 program of cooperation for combating terrorism, separatism and extremism, and China will also help train 2,000 law enforcement officers for all parties in the next three years.
An SCO community with a shared future will be based on:
-- Building up the strength of unity and mutual trust.
-- Strengthening the foundation for shared peace and security
-- Building a powerful engine to achieve common development and prosperity
-- Forging ties through cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
-- Expanding partnership networks of international cooperation.
