A letter bomb, which exploded at the Paris office of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) injuring one employee, was sent from Greece, Greek deputy minister for public order Nikos Toskas said in a TV interview on Thursday.
A secretary for an unnamed senior manager was wounded in the face and hands after she opened a letter containing explosives like “a big firecracker,” Paris police chief Michel Cadot said.
The letter was sent in the name of Vassilis Kikilias with a return address of an office in Greece "that is no longer in use," Toskas said.
Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the IMF condemned the act of violence in a statement on Thursday and said the IMF was working closely with the French authorities to investigate the incident.
The attack came one day after another similar letter bomb was sent to German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble, for which Greek far-left group the Conspiracy of Fire Cells claimed responsibility.
