The inaugural China-US Diplomatic and Security Dialogue will be held in Washington D.C. on June 21, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang announced on Friday.

Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi and General Fang Fenghui, Chief of the People's Liberation Army's Joint Staff Department will join the talks hosted by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis.

Lu said the two sides will exchange views of mutual concern, adding that China is willing to work with the US to make positive results in the upcoming meetings.

The high-level framework of dialogues has been launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump during their meeting at Mar-a-Lago in Florida in April.

The two sides announced the establishment of four mechanisms for dialogue and cooperation on diplomacy and security, the economy, law enforcement and cyber security, as well as social and people-to-people exchanges.
