A spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that Japan’s approval of “Mein Kampf” as teaching material in the country’s schools risked sending the wrong message on fascism, “which must be eradicated without any ambiguity.”
Lu Kang said, “We urge the Japanese government to educate their young generation with a correct historical view as it is universally agreed that fascism, as well as militarism, are the bane of World War Two, and the book is obviously associated with them.”
The Japanese government on Friday approved schools’ use of Adolf Hitler’s controversial autobiography “Mein Kampf.” The book was banned in Germany in 1945 and was only allowed to be republished in 2016.
