Samples of rock, sediment, deep-sea life and sea water were collected during the dive. The submersible was able to capture images of the ocean floor, which will offer invaluable information for scientists. A new kind of sea cucumber, which looks like a jellyfish, was also discovered during Jiaolong’s trip in the Yap Trench.
