Libya's eastern-based government and the Republic of Maldives announced respectively on Monday that they have decided to cut diplomatic relations with Qatar, following five other states in the Middle East.
Earlier on Monday, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Yemen severed diplomatic relations with the country.
As of now, a total of seven countries have cut ties with Qatar.
Qatar has been accused of supporting terrorist groups as well as the Muslim Brotherhood.
Libya's foreign minister, Mohamed Dayri, said they made the decision due to Qatari "interference in domestic affairs and support of terrorism."
"The Maldives took the decision because of its firm opposition to activities that encourage terrorism and extremism," said the Foreign Ministry of Maldives in a statement published on its website.
