Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for joint efforts to build a common destiny community as he attended the first ministerial meeting of the Ancient Civilization Forum in Athens, Greece on Monday.
Wang also asked all the countries present to join hands to strengthen communication and mutual learning between different cultures and civilizations, stressing that dialogue should serve as the bridge to maintain world peace and stability.
At a joint press conference with his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias earlier, Wang said the Ancient Civilization Forum provided dynamism in both thought and culture for the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative.

“The Ancient Civilization Forum and the Belt and Road Initiative can be essentially traced to the same origin,” Wang said.
The two-day forum, a Greek initiative with China as co-organizer, started on Monday, with delegations from 10 countries representing major ancient civilizations - including Bolivia, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Mexico and Peru - in attendance.
