No one involved in the now infamous passenger dragging incident will be fired, said United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz on Tuesday, despite videos of the violent scene sparking public outrage worldwide.
It was a “system failure” across various areas, said Munoz at a conference call, adding that there was never a consideration for firing an employee.

Last week, the videos posted by passengers online showing three police officers dragging a passenger off a flight on April 9 caused public uproar.
David Dao, a 69-year-old Vietnamese-American physician, was violently removed from an overbooked United Airlines flight by security officers to make room for crew members at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, after refusing to give up his seat as requested.

The Chicago-based United Airlines is reviewing policies with regard to handling oversold flights to prevent similar incidents, and talking to some passengers and employees on how the airline can take a more "common-sense approach," Munoz said.
According to AFP reports, the company has already announced some policy changes such as no longer having law enforcement remove customers from flights, and requiring employees to sign in at least 60 minutes before the flight.
