China wins two diving golds on day three of FINA championships

China won two gold medals on day three of the FINA World Championships. Peng Jianfeng prevailed in the men’s one-meter springboard on Sunday, while Ren Qian and Si Yajie were victorious in the women’s 10-meter synchronized event.
Peng, who rose to fame at the 2015 Gwangju Summer University games, started his quest for the podium with a 34-point lead after four dives.

Despite a couple of errors in his final two attempts, the man from Guangdong held on to win with 448.40 points.
Teammate He Chao finished second, while Italian Givanni Tocci was third.
In the women's 10-meter synchro, Ren Qian and Si Yajie again shone after winning gold in the platform synchro event on Saturday. The teens maintained their consistency throughout their five dives and gained a total of 352.56 points.

The DPRK's Kim Mi-rae and Kim Kuk-hyang ended 16.08 points behind in second, while Malaysia's Pandelela Rinong Pamg and Cheong Jun Hoong claimed the bronze.
Ren and Si's victory is China's ninth straight in the event at the worlds.
