Brexit talks between the UK and the European Union could not begin on time in October.
The EU’s top Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier said the talks could be delayed, if the two sides can’t achieve real progress on several key issues, including: financial settlements, citizens rights and the UK’s Irish border.
Britain’s Brexit department said the UK remains confident that talks will begin as originally planned, in October.
According to Reuters, a spokesman for the department said that they had already made good progress on a number of issues, government officials were working at pace, and they were confident they would have made sufficient progress by October to advance the talks to the next phase.
