This disturbing footage, filmed on October 2, shows an Indian father placing his 18-month-old baby on hot coals during a religious ceremony in the southern state of Karnataka. The parents had prayed for a boy and promised to keep the baby on a bed of coals if their wish was fulfilled. The parents will not be prosecuted but a local Child Welfare Committee has been asked to step in and counsel them.
