Rescue efforts are still underway at the site of a severe landslide in southwest China's Sichuan Province. The chief forecaster at the National Meteorological Center, He Lifu, was asked if the weather would affect the rescue operation.
"It's cloudy there now and real-time monitoring shows more clouds developing. We can expect light to moderate rain tonight and temperatures between eight and 14 degrees. Showers will continue throughout the next three days," said He.
He also predicts that rainfall on Sunday and Monday should ease off a little with less than 10 millimeters forecast, and shouldn't severely affect rescue efforts. But with temperatures being quite cold at night, rescue workers need to wear proper protective gear against the rain as well as the cold.
