Cherimoya, praised by Mark Twain as "the most delicious fruit known to man," originates from the Andes, South America, at altitudes of 700 meters to 2,400 meters. The fruit has the creamy texture of the flesh, so it's also called custard apple.

Cherimoya trees can grow to five meters to nine meters tall and produce green flowers with fruity odor. The fruit is large and heart-shaped. Its skin is rough, but the flesh is creamy white. In some South American countries such as Peru, you can find yogurt and ice creams made with cherimoya. The fruit tastes kind of like a mixture of banana, papaya and peach.

Here is a group of photos of this rough-looking plant!
