The name Anemone is derived from the Greek word "anemoi", which means "wind" in English.

It's a genus of about 200 species of flowering plants, usually with long straight stems and small flowers in colors of white, blue, purple, and pink, among others.

Western cultures see the flower in a somewhat grim light.

In Greek mythology, the goddess Aphrodite had a love affair with mortal man Adonis. When Adonis was killed by jealous gods, Aphrodite's tears became the anemone flower.

As a result, Western cultures tend to associate the flower with forsaken love.

Growing in temperate zones, it can be found in high mountains across China.

Yunnan Province in the country's southwest is a rich land of flora and fauna.

At least three species of Anemone can be found in its mountainous areas.
