Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi calls for more cooperation between China and France on international and regional issues of major concern.
Wang made the remarks on Thursday during his meeting with veteran French politician Laurent Fabius, who is head of the French Constitutional Council and the country's former foreign minister.
Noting China-France relations are developing at a high level, Wang called on two sides to deepen bilateral cooperation in all fields and strengthen communication and coordination in major international and regional issues, so as to carry forward their comprehensive strategic partnership to a new height.
Two days ago, the leaders of both countries have held a telephone conversation during which both agreed to step up efforts to safeguard multilateralism.

To navigate the complicated and profound international landscape, Fabius said his country is willing to join hands with China to address global challenges and promote the peace and development of the world.
Wang Yi is on visit to South Africa, France, and Switzerland from October 17 to 23, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
During his visit to France, Wang will meet with French leaders, hold talks with Le Drian, and co-chair the fifth meeting of the China-France high-level mechanism for dialogue on people-to-people exchanges.
