China's Wang Xiyu overwhelmed Barbara Haas of Austria 6-3, 6-4 in an hour and 37 minutes, while both her compatriots Peng Shuai and You Xiaodi crashed out of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) event in Hua Hin, Thailand, on Thursday night.

Storming into her first WTA women's singles quarters, 18-year-old Wang seemed to find her luck on the Thai court as she stunned second seed Petra Martic of Croatia at the opening round on Tuesday.

The Chinese teenager will face fifth seeded Magda Linette of Poland in the round of eight, who passed Peng 7-5, 6-1 in another women's singles match on Thursday.

Wang Xiyu will join third seeded Chinese Wang Qiang and fourth seed Zheng Saisai, also from China, who took early spots into the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

However, another Chinese You Xiaodi was ousted 6-1, 6-3 by Patricia Maria Tig of Romania.

In women's doubles quarterfinals, China's Han Xinyun and her Dutch partner Bibiane Schoofs lost to Australian duo Arina Rodionova and Storm Sanders 7-6(3), 6-1.

Another Chinese pair Xun Fangying and Zheng Saisai failed to advance after their 7-6(5), 6-4 loss to Indian-Dutch pair Ankita Raina and Rosalie van der Hoek.

Thailand Open, a hard-court WTA international event with a total prize of 251,750 U.S. dollars is held in Hua Hin between February 10 and 16.
