Cameras captured a beaver family of five eating together in a river in Altay Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The five Sino-Mongolian beavers decided to have a night snack on a piece of ice on the river.
"Beavers live in groups based on family, so this is a large family. By accident, the ice floated here and became a dinner table for them," said Chu Wenwen, director of Tongzhichu Nature Conservation Association.
Sino-Mongolian beaver is the only beaver species in China. These nocturnal animals live in Ulungur River valley.
