Updated 2020.09.19 11:06 GMT+8

Datong is a city located in China's Shanxi Province. In early autumn, Chinese hawthorn trees have already started to produce fruits in Datong. The fruit has a bright red color. In Chinese, it's called "shan zha" and it is an ingredient to make many popular snacks in the country including tanghulu and shanzhagao.

Chinese hawthorn trees prefer a cool and humid environment. They can grow both in cold and hot weather. In China, you can find them grow in many provinces including Shanxi, Shandong and Jiangsu.

Here are some photos of Chinese hawthorns taken in Datong City.
