Kelsey crabapple trees are a sight for sore eyes in spring. Their rose-red petals give out a light fragrance. The flowers bloom in spring before leaves appear. After flowering, the plant produces dark purple fruits which are favored by many kinds of birds. The plant loves sunshine and is very sturdy. It can grow easily in well-drained soil.
Here are some photos of the trees taken in Beijing Botanical Garden, one of the most popular parks in the city.
About 'City of Wild'
Nature is not limited to faraway mountains and oceans, it also exists in urban cities and our daily lives. In the series, "City of Wild," CGTN not only unfolds a world of wildlife you were probably not aware of, but also highlights the theme of this year's CBD COP 15: Ecological Civilization: Building a Shared Future for All Life on Earth.
