From an early age, girls from the Miao ethnic group living in Danxia County of southwest China's Guizhou Province learn from their mother and grandmother how to add color to the clothes they wear.
They paint dye-resistant beeswax on the cloth before dyeing, leaving patterns featuring animals and natural scenes or representing folklore on the fabric.
After years of practice, the patterns, no matter how complicated, naturally flow from their heart onto the cloth. No draft is needed.
Today, the art has offered many Miao women job opportunities in studios across the county as more people become fascinated by their handicrafts.
