In a manuscript on the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Adrian Zenz, a researcher in China studies claims that Chinese academics and politicians in Xinjiang have argued that the region's "terrorism" problem can only be solved by "optimizing" southern Xinjiang's ethnic population structure. He goes on to claim that "optimizing" such concentrations is achieved by "embedding" substantial Han populations. Little does he know that essential truths search for no one. He follows what is not real, insightful and introspective.

The illusion of an objective reality

Let's face it. A false report always tells us the truth about its author. "Scholars" like Zenz need to realize that we live in a post-pandemic world in which truth, fact and reality are stronger than their misguided opinions, assumptions and perspectives. 

The data from China's 2020 census shows that although the population growth has almost come to a halt, the ethnic minorities' growth is not just steady, but at a robust pace when compared with the speed a decade ago. 

According to the recently released Seventh National Population Census, China's total population of minority ethnic groups stands at 125.47 million, up by 11.68 million, or 10.26 percent, compared with the figure in 2010. Xinjiang's ethnic minorities' growth has been steady and robust compared with the period from 2000 to 2010. In fact, it has gone up by 46 percent, higher than that of the populous Han ethnic group.

Perhaps, that's because of social logics in cultural, family and reproductive aspects where the preference for higher fertility among ethnic minority families remains unchanged. Perhaps, that's also because China has relaxed restrictions on its family policy under which the birthrate among ethnic minorities has long been higher than that of Han. Whatever this is, it shows that Beijing has no clandestine "methods" to solve Xinjiang's problems from a viewpoint of national security.

As well, it's a lie that China considers controlling the growth rate of its ethnic minority population to be an important way of achieving long-term peace and stability in Xinjiang. China has successfully been doing all this and more through poverty alleviation, job creation and economic development and growth in rural areas.

The reality is telling

Facts are threatening to those invested in fraud and delusion. The international community knows fully well that the anti-China "authors" and "publishers" have mastered the art of lying about Xinjiang and its ethnic minority populations. The propagandists erroneously describe China's legitimate struggle against terrorism as "sterilizations" and "political steering," and a handful of pro-West separatists as "urban ethnic minorities." They cannot get away with these abject lies and statistics every day.

They can spend millions on media propaganda but they cannot win this psychological warfare. They can employ "experts" and "tribunals" but they cannot brainwash the world to believe that if Xinjiang one day suffers from population shrinkage it's due to Beijing's plan to "optimize" its population resources. Thanks to the general gullibility, laziness and illiteracy of some Western mainstream media, the anti-China "authors" and "publishers" can only flourish and present themselves in fake news stories and manuscripts.

The biggest propagators of fake news don't want us to know that their role is to produce, plant and peddle propaganda-driven fake news about the world's second largest economy. Their slick maneuvers are intended to distract attention from what we should really be talking about. They have grown recklessly out of control, all the while some mainstream news media, which are supposed to act as bulwark against falsehood, have become their mouthpiece.

If the anti-China undercurrents use their propagandists disguised as "authors" and "publishers," it's not because they want to expose support for separatists. They are there to operate as compliant assistants, merely repeating what is being fed to them – manufactured, manipulated and made-to-order news, reports and manuscripts that have nothing to do with the ideas of truth and human rights.
