Flying pied avocet in east China's Shandong Province

The pied avocet inhabits lakes, ponds and marshes in plains and semi-desert areas. They also appear in rice paddies and fish ponds during migration. They can be found in many provinces in China and mainly feed on small invertebrates, such as small crustaceans, aquatic insects, insect larvae, worms and mollusks.
