'I'm glad I did what I did' - Isabel Crook
02:47

"90 years in China now, I'm glad I did what I did," says Isabel Crook. She was born in China in 1915 to Canadian missionaries. She grew up in China, met her husband in China, and eventually taught at the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) for 40 years. Her husband, David Crook, influenced her to join the British Communist Party. He passed away a few years ago, but a bust of him has been erected in BFSU's eastern campus, with the words - "British, Jewish, Communist" written underneath.
