It is a species native to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and one of its earliest inhabitants. According to paleontological records, the plateau pika has survived on this land for 37 million years. At over 3,100 meters above sea level, the alpine meadows and grasslands are the pikas' favorite habitats.
About 'Journeys in Nature: Sanjiangyuan series'
In the Sanjiangyuan series, we explore the stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife of the Sanjiangyuan (sources of three rivers) Region, where the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers originate. Sanjiangyuan has earned the title of "Water Tower of China" because its abundant glacier resources have a freshwater reserve of 200 billion cubic meters. The reservoir has nurtured abundant wild flora and fauna such as snow leopards, Himalayan blue sheep, Thorold's deer, Tibetan wild asses and vultures.
