An 18-year-old gunman shot his grandmother before he continued his rampage at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, opening fire and killing 19 children and two adults. It was the deadliest mass shooting since 2018 in the United States. 

Dora Martinez, who lost her granddaughter in the shooting, sobbed on camera and begged the government and society to do something about it.
