Praised by the Tibetan people as an "auspicious bird," black-necked cranes are the only kind of crane in the world that live and breed on the plateau. In late March, thousands of the birds fly from Dashanbao Wetland in Yunnan Province and Caohai Lake in Guizhou Province back to the Zogye Wetland. The unique environment offers an ideal breeding place for the cranes.
