Herds of milu deer were enjoying life in the wild at the Tian'ezhou Milu National Nature Reserve in central China's Hubei Province. More than 400 milu deer have been born there this year alone. Also known as Pere David's deer, milu deer were introduced from Beijing to Hubei in the 1990s, but now over 2,000 milu deer inhabit the reserve. Established in 1993, the marshlands and reeds at the reserve create the perfect habitat for the deer to thrive. In order to protect animals, the reserve is not open to the public.
