On November 15, 2015, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech at the first session of the 10th summit of the G20 economies in Türkiye. In the speech, he quoted an old Chinese saying: "The going is difficult when doing it alone; the going becomes easier when doing it with many others."
The trend of the world economy in recent years shows that in the age of economic globalization, no country can prosper in isolation. Coordination and cooperation are the only viable choices. However, the world is facing a series of crises today, resulting in significant changes to the global economy. What will happen if one economy decouples from the other?
John McLean, chairman of the Institute of Directors for the City of London, tells CGTN that "for anybody to survive, you've got to be part of a community." He believes that no man is an island – by doing things together, that community thrives.
