North Africa, which includes Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, is characterized by its plateau and desert landscapes. The region is renowned for its hot and dry climate.
North Africa is predominantly located on the subtropical high-pressure belt, resulting in prevailing hot and dry descending air currents that lead to scarce rainfall and arid conditions.
Due to the arid climate, the diversity of animal species in North Africa is relatively low, but many possess strong drought resistance, such as camels, the addax, and the fennec fox. These animals have developed unique survival strategies in the harsh desert environment.
North Africa is also home to some venomous snakes and poisonous insects, such as the Egyptian cobra and scorpions.
