The 53rd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders' Meeting kicked off on Monday in Nuku'alofa, the capital of Tonga. How do Pacific island residents view cooperation with China? CGTN stringers interviewed residents in New Zealand, Australia, Nauru and Vanuatu about their expectations. Annie Evans, a resident of New Zealand, said, "As someone who went to high school in both China and New Zealand, I am very excited about the prospects of educational cooperation between the two countries." Rose, a resident of Nauru, hopes for increased cooperation between the two countries in areas as diverse as business, education, tourism and environmental issues.
