Located on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, Qinghai Province in northwest China is known for being home to the Sanjiangyuan area, dubbed "the water tower of China," where the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers originate.
Despite the high altitude of over 3,500 meters in average and harsh environment in Qinghai, life continues to thrive. The province is home to 665 species of terrestrial animals, including 40 species of first-class nationally protected animals, such as wild donkeys, black-necked cranes, and Chinese mountain cats. It also hosts over 2,800 plant species, including 50 species of nationally protected plants.
With mountains as its towering body and water as its restless soul, this convergence makes mountainous Qinghai Province in northwest China a pinnacle of life.
