Venture capitalist and technology executive Kai-Fu Lee has suggested that internet companies – particularly unicorns like Tencent, Didi and Meitu – should be left alone in the market place and prosper on their own. However, government support should be provided to such small internet companies that are trying to address some specific needs and demands of society by offering unique services. Lee told CGTN’s Tian Wei that these startups are extremely crucial in creating jobs at a time technological advancements are increasing unemployment.
