Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about his country's development and economic growth at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday. In his speech, Putin also spoke about how Russia has adapted to the new world economic development to maintain sustainable development.
Under the theme of "In search of a new balance in the global economy", the forum is expected to attract attendees calling for fairer globalization. "The major changes taking place today require the world to take effective measures to improve international governance so as to achieve a fairer distribution of globalization's benefits for all populations, thereby ensuring sustainable and balanced development,” Putin said.
In order to protect peaceful development, Putin said the NATO military alliances should work with Moscow to fight terrorism, indicating that NATO’s failure to cooperate with Russia would lead to more attacks.
Discussions also involved such topics as technology, infrastructure and cooperation among Asian and European countries.  The three-day forum ends on Saturday.
