Chinese President Xi Jinping met with outgoing Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying on Thursday afternoon. President Xi said the central government fully acknowledges Leung's work during his five-year term of office.

Accompanied by Leung, President Xi also met with senior figures of the Special Administrative Region’s executive, legislative and judicial bodies.

President Xi arrived in Hong Kong earlier on Thursday for a three-day trip to attend celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the mainland, and the inauguration of the city’s fifth-term government.
