The Beijing International Horticultural Expo will hold its closing ceremony on Wednesday. Since opening on April 29, the biggest event of its kind, received over 9.3 million visitors, according to the organizer. Before the expo lowers its curtain, CGTN invites you on an exclusive VR journey to some of its most iconic spots.

Magnificence of Yongning

The Yongning Pavilion built on the Tiantian Mountain is the highest point of the expo park. It adopts the traditional architectural style of northern China from the Tang (618-907) and Liao (907-1125) dynasties. Laid in the middle of square courtyards on a high platform, the main pavilion is surrounded by entrance buildings, corridors, and corner pavilions.

The total height of Yongning from ground level to the rooftop is 27.6 meters. Standing by the railings, you can see the entire park and enjoy a view of the Great Wall in the south and the Haituo Mountain in the north.

China Pavilion

In the shape of the traditional Chinese jade ornament, "ruyi," the China Pavilion is one of the main pavilions of the expo. In Chinese culture, a "ruyi" symbolizes good fortune. The exhibition area of the China Pavilion covers 15,000 square meters, showcasing the country's ecological and horticultural achievements.

International Pavilion

Following the concept of "blending and blooming," the International Pavilion presents a sea of blossoms with 94 steel pillars in the shape of a flower umbrella. The spectacular design provides shade for visitors and incorporates eco-friendly technologies.

It was the venue where the Belt & Road countries showcased their diverse flora and told their horticultural stories. It also featured an international flower contest in which top florists from 31 countries and regions competed, displaying the beauty of flower art.

Qatar National Pavilion

Spanning over 2,000 square meters, the Qatar National Pavilion has one of the largest built-up areas in the Expo.

The design of five trees supporting five gardens is inspired by the Sidra tree, the symbol of life in Qatar. The trees are found all around Qatar deserts and are known for their ability to live in the harshest environments.

Japanese Garden Pavilion

This Japanese Garden was made in Chisen style with a pond at its center. The carps in the pond are from Nagaoka and Ojiya, where this particular variety originates.

Inside the pavilion, seasonal floral artworks were exhibited, showcasing the profound gardening culture of the country.
