As a subspecies of Eurasian beaver, Castor fiber birulai is the only beaver species living in China. There are about 600 of them in China, and only in northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. They are fantastic architects capable of building dams, which provides shelters for many other species.

In late autumn, the beavers are busy storing branches and leaves of nearby trees in their newly-built homes for the coming winter. CGTN Nature film crew captured the precious moment of them eating and storing food in the Ulungur River in Fuyun County in the Xinjiang's Altay Prefecture. Watch the video to meet this cute and intelligent creature.
